# Restore a schema version

> Restore a published version into the working draft.

Copies a published snapshot back into the working draft. Does not publish — call [Publish](/api-reference/schemas/publish) to make it live.

## OpenAPI

  title: Abacus Docs API
  version: 1.0.0
  description: |
REST + SSE surface for Abacus Docs on the same host as the web app
    (`https://abacusdocs.com`). Paths are `/api/v2/…`.

Authenticate with an organisation API key (`sk-abacus-*`) as a Bearer
token, or an Auth0 access token. Cross-tenant reads return **404**, not
    403. Page-based lists use `?page=` and `?page_size=`.

Extraction, reprocess, schema tests, and chat turns spend credits.
See the help centre Credits pages for rates.

summary: Restore a past Struct version into the working draft
      description: >-
Copies the named ``StructVersion``'s ``schema_json`` and
``annotations_json`` into the parent struct's working draft. Restoration
does NOT auto-publish — the caller must invoke the publish endpoint
afterwards to materialize a new version (so the edit history stays
linear and intentional). Restore from a *deprecated* version is allowed:
the deprecation flag is a marker on the version row, not on its JSON, so
users can pull old shapes back as a starting point for a new draft.

Idempotent in the trivial sense: restoring twice with no intermediate
edit yields the same draft body, but the ``updated_at`` timestamp is
bumped on each call (so dirty-state indicators in the UI refresh).
